The June Boötids, a meteor shower that occurs annually between late June and early July, occasionally surprises stargazers with outbursts of slow meteors, Weak But Spectacular: Bootid Meteor Shower To Peak On 27th June. These meteors, originating from the orbit of Comet Pons-Winnecke, have a geocentric velocity of approximately 14.1 km/s.
